- 10:48 PM - Couple things.

First and most importantly, it was my birthday last week. I'm 22 now :) Secondly, the official announcement has been made. X3 hits theatres on 5/26/06. May rules.

- 8:56 PM - 2D PHP game in the making.

Right. I'm making a 2D PHP game called Odyssey. Well, I started it ages ago with a friend, but the project stopped after I b0rked the code and couldn't be bothered fixing it.

What I've done now is a total remake, but this time, level design is very easy to do, you just list your instructions for your level in an array and it reads this, etc (The "odyssey5.png" on my screenshot folder below shows this a bit.)
Sorry the pictures are poor, I can't be arsed cutting them up properly, I've just coded for like 4 hours solid.

I'll post more when I write the AI and finish off the battle system.

I'm looking for a good storyline/plot to include with it, as the focus when I release will be on people using it as an engine to produce their own levels/plots/storylines/whatever.

Some more juicy goodness: it comes with 62 "enemy" sprites, 1 character in 3 poses (for critical hits, etc), 9 backgrounds (a few are animated), loads of "particles" - these are like effects such as beams, blasts, there's even a sandstorm in there, ...and a duck. Anyway. There are also 9 midi tracks that I might add in, depends on whether I can get some decent cross-browser music support in. Probably not, who knows, but the music fits the style of the game really well.

Enough jabbering from me, give me ideas for a storyline, or any other ideas you have. Thanks!

BTW: I did NOT draw those sprites/backgrounds, they are from a large number of different sites, I spent about 3 hours forming a collection of them. But I didn't draw them. So don't ask.

Speaking of which, if you want to draw a sprite or background I would be happy to include it.

Ah, one more thing - the page reloading I mentioned is NOT staying for long. I'm going to be using Ajax, that's the next stage after I get battles working. But it all takes time. I want to offer an API for scripted battles (for boss fights, etc). Or hell, I might just use that for all battles.

- 5:50 PM - People Suck II

Okay, well. Lies lies lies! They always suck. Anyway, the new chick apparently only said yes because she felt sorry for me. But only after her friends convinced her to break up with me... Sooo.... could be a "I don't want to have people make fun of me", but it's probably more like "I felt sorry", based on other things I've heard from my friend Mikka.. And for the record, I'm not dating Mikka because we both agreed that we really don't want it to get weird in our friendship, but at the same time, we both really like eachother... it's a really strange situation. It's like, she really doesn't want to lose me (same here), so she doesn't want to risk it (although I'm sure it'd work, but still). She's not liking her current boyfriend much, so you never know. Maybe that will work out in my favor.

Anyways... something that brings great joy to my day: Firefox 1.5 has been released. I'm rolling my own build as we speak.

Remember how I mentioned that my crush didn't like me? Well. Uh. Recent events that have occured indicate otherwise. Like, uh. We're dating now. That's a good indication she likes me I think. Seriously, here's how it happened. We were texting (because by some miracle of science, text messages for her are free, but she only has like 4 credits left on her phone), and the question came up: Did I have a crush on her when I met her? Well. Of course. I sort of whitelied and said that "Yeah, I had the biggest crush on you. But now I don't really think of you like that so much.. you're more like a really good friend to me." And her response was easily answered. "Well, I think you're a really sweet guy, and if you ever had feelings for me like that, if you asked me out I'd say yes." So, uh. Guess what The Gabler did? Hehe. Anyway, yeah, it's the same one that I've always talked about (Mikka if any of you know me enough to be stalking these people's names), but anyway. It's also the same chick who needs help, so keep praying for her, folks. I know that I won't be swayed to partake in the circular ritual, and I hope I can sway her out of it. We'll see though.

In other news, there's going to be an ApologetiX concert almost literally next door on Saturday. I can't find someone to go with me, and I'm not going alone, and it's on the same day as a football game.... Sorry, but while they do rule, I'd rather watch the game. Which sucks because they aren't in Oklahoma very often.

Also, uh. I think I need to upgrade to MEdia Plus. I think I've definitely used more than 200 text messages this month...
