- 10:37 AM - <gripe>

I'm going to work in reverse chronological order here.

* ATTENTION BITTORRENT USERS: Just because you have a share rating of 1.nnn, do not stop seeding when there's less than two copies of the data going around! I have 512KB remaining on a tracker because some shithead did that to me. It's not hard to do it!

* I'm tired of people leaving trash in my car, and then they bitch about me griping about it when I say "WHAT THE FUCK?!". Seriously, either hold on to the trash, or throw it out of the window (please ensure no police cars are near, or be prepared to pay the ticket). This goes for people other than my sister as well.

* ATTENTION POTHEADS: Do not bring the shit to school during Red Ribbon Week, and especially not on Red Ribbon Week Assembly Day. It's probably the only day in the year where you can be 100% certain they'll have a drug dog there.

* Sort of related to the above, my close chick friend (in WoW terms, a "level 30/50 apprentince girlfriend" [girlfriend would be the next level]) is removed from school for the rest of the year. She had nothing on her or in her locker, but she knew about it and didn't snitch. Of course, she probably had plans to utilize the Fire Flower Powerup after school, but nevermind that.
</gripe>

Well, that's pretty much all I have to gripe about.

Now for something that I should share with you all. Why? Why not.

I mentioned how my girl friend (as opposed to removing the byte between l and f) got kicked out for the rest of the year, right? Well, we went to the Vian vs. Lincoln Christian game Friday night. I picked her up, and I decided that instead of dropping her off with her other pothead friends, I'd stay and not be an asshole (I would think someone were an asshole if they were my friend and just left me there to go inside where I couldn't go [I can go inside though]).

Uh, anyways. Botanists such as herself seem to only really care about when they can next practice plant testing. I mean, I know she likes me, and she quite frequently hangs on me during school and crosses her arm with mine and whatnot. Well, I put my arm around hers (rather, tried), and she broke free shortly (~1min) later to go talk to her Reagent Vendor. Rather than dragging me along like she usually does. So..... maybe she's embarrassed? I am a goon after all. But who knows?

Certain secondary sources indicate that she likes me, would date me, but is afraid that if it didn't work out, she'd lose a friend. Okay. I understand that. I too feel that way, but I also feel that it could work (well, that's making the assumption she quits jacking on [Futurama - S01E09 - Hell Is Other Robots]). Actually, I think that she cannot possibly invision herself doing anything the typical teenage couple do with me. I don't know if it's that brotherly-like aspect, or just that she's embarrassed (probably some combination of both).

In any event, I think she needs moral support more than she needs a boyfriend right now. My number one goal for her right now is to get her off of the spinach. Then, who knows.

Hm. Anyways. The main reason that I'm posting this here is because my blog is dead. The secondary reason is that I'm sure Brandon and Derek have things to share that could trump me. The other reason is that eXonyte's Realm(TM) is The Blog Orgy(SM).

Also, well, this is more or less proof that prayer works. I've been praying that she get off of the tetrahydracannabinol (if I spelled that right, I deserve a medal), and I think getting kicked out of school, sent to counseling, and having her mom find out is a good start. What I need from you religious folk is this: pray she totally gets off of it and turns her life around. I'm not quite sure what my role is in this yet, but I'll find out in due time. I'll let you guys know how things go when more stuff goes on. Right now, she's not replying to my text messages (probably forgot her phone, it's in her bag, or it's not charged [it wasn't on Thursday]). And for some odd reason, text messages are free on her pay-as-you-go phone, which is why we communicate like that.

- 4:49 PM - Have we found our next movie series obsession?

I think maybe we have... X-Men 3 is slated to come out sometime next year. Notable entries in the cast list include Dr. Hank McCoy/Beast (Kelsey Grammar), Warren Worthington III/Angel (Ben Foster), Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat (Ellen Page), and Cain Marko/Juggernaut (Vinnie Jones). That's four characters fans have been looking forward to (yes, two made previous cameos.. no one cares about cameos.) Besides, Kelsey Grammar is the best actor possible to give voice to The Beast. Plus, anytime you get Bullet Tooth Tony playing Juggernaut, I'm there. The other two actors mentioned seem like a good fit too. An entry I don't think anyone was really waiting on, but I think is gonna be cool anyway is Jamie Madrox/Multiple Man (Eric Dane... I don't know him either.) Multiple Man... he'll overwhelm you with large numbers of average men! Just the character list for this movie is getting me excited about it. Also, there's been another movie announced: Wolverine. 'nuff said, bub.

- 1:15 AM - Semper Fi, mother %#@&er!

Go see Doom mother %#@&er! It's a %#@& good %#@&ing movie! It %#@&ing stays mostly %#@&ing true to the game, but the %#@&ing writers took some %#@&ing license. There's a lot of %#@&ing gore and a lot of mother %#@&ing bad %#@&ing language. Also, it's %#@&ing dark as %#@&ing %#@&; just like Doom %#@&ing 3.

- 1:13 PM - Found the issue!

Apparently, my connection was offline because of a packet-over-air issue caused by a fiber-seeking tractor. Should be (mostly) fixed now.

- 12:31 PM - Angry lawyer gets "Jacked"-up by angrier fans.

Yeah, it was corny as hell. Anyways, it looks like Jack Thompson pissed off enough gamers that the Florida Bar Association has been getting enough complaints lodged against him to warrant an emergency investigation. Sounds to me like just what he needs...

- 9:17 PM - Broadband!

Well. It's about 284kbps. Better than 40kbps any day...

Anyways, their network is .. well.. odd. When they connected the radio, I saw that my WAN IP was 10.10.10.24. Apparently, all of the computers are kept in some sort of virtual network. nmap is somewhat useful in figuring this conundrum out. In the 10.10.10.0 subnet, there are a handful of IPs. There are two Windows boxes (.36/.46), neither of which are letting me access them via SMB (yes, the port *IS* open, and yes, I can connect.. unfortunately, it complains and then exits). Another is a home broadband router running PC Anywhere on it. I think they may be "reselling" a high speed ISP available in their headquarters, but I dunno. Then there's the default gateway, which seems to be a Cisco router (the good kind.. like a 3200 series). And then there's one machine running Unknown OS(TM) with pretty much every single port open except ones that an ISP may want to block. I think this one is either a bad ACL, or another Cisco router doing filtering.

Right, well. Anyways. Enough with the technical overview of the network. Here's what it means to me: intranet.ignition-project.com => cannot create outside of the network (yeah, my DNS Domain Name is set to that ;p). Pretty much only complaint. Their network is set up very.. strangely. I mean, it's more secure than expected -- essentially, my router is on the inside of a DMZ and I'm behind that DMZ (so I'm royally fucked if I wanted to serve services to the Internet).

Also, for some odd reason, about every 25 minutes the connection drops. I don't have any earthly idea what the lights on the radio mean, so I can't exactly go "uhh.. it must have lost a connection" or anything. I called them and their answering service will get back to him shortly. I think. (FWIW: my friend Carl works in the same lease space as their answering service.. he works for Cingular though).

ThinkGeek now has WoW shirts... and... one involving... LEEROY JENKINS! :D

- 12:51 AM - We're stepping into... uh... 1998.

That's right, ladies and gentlemen... Our household is stepping into the year 1998 by getting... you guessed it... HIGH SPEED INTERNET! By high speed, I mean somewhere between typical DSL and atypical DSL. 348kbps down (for $10 more, I could get 512kbps), both with 128kbps up. The guy supposedly will be by tomorrow to install the antenna and hook it up. Sure beats my unstable 48.8kbps :P.

More updates as they become available to our news desk.

- 11:54 PM - I am pissed

Slashdot: Federal Court Shuts Down Pay As You Go Wireless

This is why the need to abolish technology patents until a proper law can be established. This is going too far.

Update 12:35 AM:
Perhaps I should explain. I could care less what companies are involved, I'm simply bothered by the amount of frivolous patents that have been flying around lately. Regardless of this specific instance, there are way too many patents being enforced lately that should have never been issued. Many of them are extremely general and open to being interpreted entirely too all-encompassing.

- 7:04 PM - Coincidence?

When you enter 'maddox' on Amazon.co.uk, the first thing that come up is a book about pirates.

- 1:00 PM - I'm making a video game.

In my game, you have one goal. You have to kill Jack Thompson. Your motivation? Punishing him for furthering the lie that violence in videogames leads to real life violence. Secondary to this is punishing him for trying to prove his point by offering a weak ass $10,000 check to a charity if a video game company makes a game about going on a killing rampage against the video game industry. No company is going to do it, and not because they're afraid they'll make themselves targets for psycho teenagers as Thompson claims they've done to others. Not even because video game companies don't take outside proposals as a matter of strict policy. They're not going to do it because the game would suck ass and they'd lose a hell of a lot more than the $10,000 that Thompson is offering to pay to the favorite charity of the head of Take Two Interactive.

- 11:04 PM - I just flashed my iPod in Linux!

It's quite easy. This is a very good help. You don't need to be using GNUpod to flash your iPod in Linux. Although it does assume that you have a Windows-formatted one. If you have a Mac formatted one and your system doesn't understand Mac partitions, use parted to delete the partitions, then go into fdisk and basically go:
n (new partition)
p (primary)
1 (1st partition)
(enter)
+32M (32MB in size)
n
p
2
(enter)
(enter)
t (set type)
1 (1st partition)
0 (Empty)
t
2
b (W95 FAT32)
w (write changes)
sync
mkfs.vfat -F 32 -n "Volume Label" /dev/sda2
eject /dev/sda

^ that should initialize your iPod, if it's freshly bought. but yeah. updating the iPod is a lot easier than I thought. I think I might make a rudimentary GUI for it ^_^

- 2:37 AM - Quick note

I fixed the [code] bug. If you know what the problem was, it's gone. If you never noticed the problem, then don't worry about it.

I also updated the message parser to only allow certain HTML tags, which can be controlled from the Website Options in the Admin section. Which tags are allowed is not set in stone.

Looks like I have some CSS validation issues to clean up too. Fun.

- 12:55 AM - I never gave props to Site5

I just realized I never really gave props to my awesome webhost. Oops.

Anyways, I added an affiliate link over on the links list to Site5, though I ought to make my own linkbanner since all of theirs don't match their site anymore :P
