- 5:44 PM - How stupid does the EU think it's people are?

I can't find an article to back this up, but I read something a Brit posted on a forum complaining about how the EU moved to ban the use of the phrase soy milk because it's misleading since soy milk is not actually milk in the traditional dairy product sense of the word... Don't the people buying soy milk buy it *because* it's not.. you know.. cow juice? Seriously, I don't think anyone is confused on this issue...

Anyway, I figured maybe one of you boys across the pond would have heard more about this. Namely if it's true and if it's going anywhere.

- 3:13 AM - X3 was awesome

The movie was great. Still wish the directorial change had not happened, but Ratner did a good job with the movie. I'm not going to go into any details other than to say that I loved the movie and that if you go see it, you DEFINITELY need to stay until after the credits... a critical scene happens afterwards.

- 12:42 AM - Movie Day

Rarely am I so excited about a particular movie that I make it a point to see it the day that it comes out... but X3 is a movie I'm willing to make an exception for. I'm gonna be seeing it at 12:01 Thursday night/Friday morning, the very first showing on Movie Day.

One of the reasons I'm making a point to go see it as soon as possible is this: Every new trailer shows just one more scene from the movie that I haven't seen and don't want to see out of context. I hate when marketers over promote a movie like that... Showing us scenes that lead us to know that certain things in the movie are going to happen. Things that otherwise could have surprised us. Maybe it's just me that that bothers... I don't know. Of course, I'm the guy that always avoids reading the blurb on the back of a book. If I'm trying to decide whether or not to buy it, I'll read the prologue or the first few pages... they often setup the story much better and don't leave me expecting that big twist at the end... Anyone else out there feel the same way?

- 12:19 PM - Lesson learned for the day

Lesson: The timer on our toaster oven works even when the oven isn't plugged in.

Outcome: Waffles don't taste very good frozen.

- 9:01 PM - Registry issue, and I'm stuck

Ok, here's the deal:
If I click a mailto: link, even though Thunderbird is registered as default mail handler, my computer decided it wants to open Internet Explorer to handle it... which in turn opens another copy of IE to handle it... and another, and so on, until I get tired of watching windows spawn and I hard reboot my computer.

I tried fixing it directly in the registry because setting and unsetting Outlook and Thunderbird as default didn't fix anything. Lo and behold, I can't access the mailto keys in the registry, and it claims it's because I don't have permission to do so. I switched to the Administrator account, and what do you know, it can't access it either.

So yeah. I'm currently running chkdsk in case there's a lost cluster holding that part of the registry. Once that's done, I'll see if the repair console can get around any possibly screwed up security restrictions on that particular key. If that doesn't work, then I'm stuck. Anyone know a registry corruption scanner, by chance?

- 6:35 PM - Acro-freakin-phobia!

Remember that game Acrophobia? No? Well then I feel sorry for you. It was an awesome game and you missed out by not playing it.

Anyway, you can play it on Uproar.com now. Or you can search for on google for Acrophobia and you might find a way to play it without having an Uproar.com account. I might be saying that because I already found such a site and it isn't very hard for you to do it either. Or I might be full of crap. Who knows?

- 8:48 PM - My Foray into Music

Using only an Apple Macintosh, a pair of shitty headphones, and 100% pure awesome, we (Joe College and the Tank Commanders) have for you a pretty crappy sounding demo of Call 2 Arms. Pretty crappy being that the shitty headphones were turned into a microphone... and a bad microphone at that. Also, there were no drums, the lead guitar track was recorded too loudly, and the bass guitar track needed some amp tweaking to make it work right (and we didn't do it). Probably next time, it'll be a good idea to turn off the bassist's pedal and use the effect inside GarageBand, and turn the pitch up slightly if the microphone I buy still can't pick up low tones very well. The lead guitar was just too damned loud (so it's distorted)... Also, recording the vocals using a real mic and not a broken earpiece would probably help. And the other guitar is just a little bit off (less than a second and you can't tell unless you crank the volume up on his track) during the beginning, but that can be fixed using Edit: Split and some other things ^_^. Also, we couldn't record the drums due to the crappy sound equipment (headphones converted to a microphone). With a drummer, it sounded pretty damn good, but still.

Technical details aside, you can download the audio file from my website...

Anyway. My involvement is that I'm the guy who worked the sound. They kick ass, are from Vian, OK (where I live), and are classicly trained to rock your fucking socks off. You probably want to listen to the no vocals version first, since the vocals version was just a "hey, someone grab the rigged-up-mic and do the words". In fact, ignore the fact that there is a version with vocals.

- 11:35 PM - I have until November to come up with like $5000.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I am now enrolled in college. More specifically, OSU Okmulgee. I'm in the Information Forensics program. Anyways. I figure, I want to go, need to go, yada yada, so I'm going. Even if I have to take a loan out :).

What have I got to lose? Money? Pfft. I can always print some off or something if it comes down to it (attention FBI: this is a joke).

On another note, my keyboard is better than yours. Especially if you don't have a Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard. Seriously. Right now, I've got a bandwidth graph up on the LCD telling me my current bandwidth usage through my WiFi interface (83KBytes/sec down, 1.71KBytes/sec up), and transfers since the interface was brought up (204MBytes down, 372MBytes up). If I press a media key, it looks just like the iTunes display (at the top in the box) and shows me the artist/song I'm playing, with a bar showing time/time remaining, and then after a second or two, it goes back to the bandwidth view (I like it that way, you could have it tell you what you're listening to all day long, but that's dumb, because you have to be pretty stupid to not know what you're listening to to the extent that you need your keyboard to tell you all the time... at least when you're changing songs, you have an excuse [a lot of songs have slience at the beginning]). It's also very comfortable, although it takes an hour or two of getting used to for people like me who take a lot of keyboard room. Because the keys on the left make me have to move my fingers into positions I'm not used to and stuff. But pretty much it's not that big a deal, I mean, only rarely do I get offtrack and type the wrong crap.

Anyways. My keyboard rules.

- 3:06 PM - May 26th will ROCK!

A few questions that have been raised in my mind due to X3's trailer and cast lists:

Jean Grey is back:
Phoenix? Dark Phoenix?
Angel appears to be getting "cured":
Archangel? Apocolypse?
Bolivar Trask is on the cast list:
Sentinels?
At least one member of the Marauders and the Morlocks is on the cast list:
The Mutant Massacre?
Colossus and Juggernaught in the same movie:
The Unbreakable meets the Unstoppable?
Mutliple Man is in the movie:
Matrix\Agent Smith style scene?

- 11:36 PM - Silent Hill

Go see it. Now. Goodnight.

- 12:10 AM - Well.

I'll make this short. I wrecked my car, my fault, I'm an idiot, and I need a new one. The other people are making my insurance premium go up for obvious reasons and that is all for today.

So. Give me a car or sell me one.

I love this. Or just watch the video.
Also, run this, stare at the white dot in the middle for 30 seconds, then look at your hand.
